Thank you AstroT! I tested the files as provide (no WCS). The new algorithm works well in x,y space, as long as reference stars are selected near the center. A lightcurve is extracted with no trouble. Because of the image rotation jump near the end of the image stack, stars further away from the center take a rotation jump at one point that is too much for centroiding alone to track. I plate-solved the images, then any comp stars could be used (as long as they are all contained in all images). Thanks again for the test stack!
