Hi All, as it turns out, this problem is due to an accidental change to a very large photometric aperture radius that was bogging AIJ down because every time the mouse moves over an image, the new photometry must be calculated to fill in the information above the image display. In this case, the unintended aperture covered a significant part of the entire image, so AIJ just couldn't keep up.
This is a scenario we had not previously considered, but it is actually fairly easy to inadvertently set the wrong aperture size. For instance, in the Multi-aperture setup panel, if one thinks they have clicked in one box to type, but the mouse didn't register inside the box, you could actually be typing in another box (like aperture radius) and not realize it. I have done this more than once.
Because this is a problem that will certainly be encountered again by other users, we have changed how the photometer works so that AIJ will gracefully handle the situation.
This fix will be included in the next AIJ daily build after 5/10/2024.
Pablo, while you think this caused us trouble for no reason, that is not true. Finding this problem, even if not intended, helped us make AIJ better and more robust. Thank you!
Karen
