Saving centered image

SCO
This post was updated on .
In the AstroImageJ guide it says the following:

5.6. Panning
Left click and drag the mouse to pan the image. A middle mouse click will center the image at the clicked
location (if enabled under preferences).

Once using the middle mouse click to center the image at the clicked location, is it possible to save the image as a .fits file in that format (with the clicked location at the center of the image)?  And then open the .fits file in other applications with the selected location shown in the center of the .fits image?

If not, I would like to request that function for a future release of AstroImageJ.

That is not currently directly possible (and could easily result in the loss of data if one is not careful). However, the AIJ_Toolbar => Image=> Crop option can be used to crop an image and save the portion in a new file.  You'd need to use the draw rectangular ROI tool on the toolbar (left-most icon) to identify the portion of the image that you want to keep, and then select the crop option. Be sure and change back to the Astronomy_Tool icon (the star field) on the toolbar before continuing in AIJ mode.
