Removing Noise in an image

How to remove noise in an Astrophotograph ? i.e. how to increase signal to noise ratio ?

Hi Shubham,

To increase signal to noise, you will need to combine multiple images of the same field. To do that you might need to align the stack first using the Stack Align () button above the image. After the stack is aligned, go to the AIJ Toolbar and select Image->Stacks->Z-project and select a combination method such as average or median.

If you simple want to smooth an image for cosmetic purposes, go to the menus above an image and select Process->Smooth image/stack. You can repeat this command to add more smoothing. Alternatively, go to AIJ Toolbar->Filters->Gaussian Blur and select the amount of smoothing you need.
