Hi Peter,

Have you confirmed that the image will open in SAO DS9? If that works,
and it will not open in AIJ, the only way I can help is if you can
forward me the actual image file. You could email it to me at
karenacollins @@@ outlook dotdotdot com, or if it is too large to email,
we can work out a drop box or google drive exchange. In case the image
is sensitive/proprietary, it would be keep confidential.

Thanks for sending the example FITS file.

I don't see any way to open the current file format directly into AIJ. With a little google searching, I did see a special FITS WCS format for cameras with a array/mosaic of multiple cameras. AIJ does not support that mosaic format. Would it be possible to output the image segments from IRAF as individual single images with single headers?

I tried "Aladin" and it opens the file into 16 planes of images, whereas I could only see one image in DS9. Aladin also provides an option to "Export planes" to single image FITS files. I used that option and each of those single image FITS files opens into AIJ just fine.

I don't know how many images you are dealing with, but if it is only a few, maybe the Aladin option will work for you? If you have lots, maybe IRAF provides the same option and could be scripted??
