On Ubuntu I can't modify Title

calou
Hi,

I'm using AIJ in an Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

I think this is a problem with the installation, but I followed all the instructions in the document (I removed everything and installed it again). With any version of AIJ, I can't edit the title and subtitle of the plot measurements; even in both cases, I have selected the text option; when I click the extra text combo, it doesn't appear to be able to modify, and it in the text field I can't modify anything.

If I open AIJ as sudo, it works. I try to check whether the ownership of the Astroimagej files is as root, but everything is correct with the installation manual.

Any idea about how to solve it?

Thank you in advance

Just to clarify for us, when in Title, Text mode (and not in sudo), when you click in the title box to change the title, does a new pop-up window named "Source" show? If it does show, is the problem that when you type in that new pop-up box, the text cannot be changed?

No, the pop-up doesn't appear; that is the problem (as sudo it appears).

Thanks!

In the Title subpanel, if you click the yellow question mark, does that open the help panel?

Also, if you *right*-click in Y-Axis Scaling subpanel Y-max box, does a new panel pop up with an option labeled "Step size" show?

Hi Karen,

yes, the help panel opens when I click it.

If I right click in Y-Axis Scaling subpanel Y-max box, nothing happens.

Best Regards

Do you have any pop-up prevention program that runs on your computer, that might not be active when you are logged in as sudo? The panels that are not opening are considered pop-up windows, while the help panel is not a pop-up panel.

In Ubuntu the default user interface is Gnome with Wayland, and Wayland has known issues with some desktop applications. Would you consider using Xorg instead of Wayland?  That's the traditional stable Linux Window driver and it is also supported by Ubuntu. If the issue is with Wayland, then AIJ should work with the change described here
