I am a high school student and am trying to find the magnitude of a star on AstroImageJ. I followed the manual on the website and was able to reach the step prior to inputting the locator star’s magnitude. I am using a Mac laptop, and the manual says once I click the locator star, a box should pop up asking for its apparent magnitude value (Step 12). I was not able to get neither that box nor the “Multi-Plot Reference Star Settings” window to pop up. I am unsure what to do after making a circle around both the locator star and target star. Please let me know if anyone has been able to pass that step! Thank you.

Could you describe or provide a link to the specific guide you are
referring to, so we'll know the steps you have taken up to this
point. Also, which version of AIJ and Mac OSX are you running?

I think the version of AIJ is java 8 (the latest one), and my Mac is version 13.2.07. This is the manual I followed: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1U8Wzg7q9-Sf_FaWC--8JCY0JFdD13vZaQG7Ajj0EpuU/edit?usp=sharing

Hi Nikita,
I am not aware of the author of that document, but they may be able to help more. However, there is at least one missing step. You'll need to make sure the "Prompt to enter ref star apparent magnitude..." option is selected in the Multi-Aperture setup panel (or in the Aperture Settings panel), before placing apertures. ![]() If you know the author of that document, could you make them are aware of the missing step? Hi,
Thank you so much, I will be trying that. I think the problem is my laptop though, because several of my peers have been able to find the magnitude on PCs. Nikita |
