Inclination's prior width in fit results file in AIJ

ahmad
I am very grateful for replying my questions about AIJ. At present, I want to have the prior width about the inclination in my fit results file in AIJ. I used the prior center by ticking the box to the right of the value of inclination in Data set 2 fit setting for several causes, but printed as zero in my fit results files. Do you know how this problem will be solved?

Could you attach a screen shot of your fitting panel and also attach the corresponding fit results file?

Hi Ahmad,

Are you intending to fix your inclination to 83.6 degrees, or do you just want the prior center starting value to be 83.6 degrees and then fitted? If want the latter case, you need to disable "Lock" and let that value be fit. If you want the prior center value to be 83.6 degrees, instead of the estimated value calculated by AIJ, then you need to disable the menu setting Auto Priors->"Include transit inclination in auto prior update" like this:

If you have a value "Locked", the it is not fitted, so the "Prior Width" in the output report is shown as 0.0000 as is displayed in your output.

Thank you. I did this work and earned infinity as prior width instead of zero.
Generally can prior width be a sign of error propagation or not?
because I have never recirved other numbers for prior width, expect for zero and infinity.

Hi Ahmad,

The prior width will be "infinity" if a parameter is not "locked" and if "Use" prior width is not enabled:

The prior width will be 0.0000 if a parameter is "locked":

The prior width will be the value entered (i.e. 3.0 in the example shown below) if "Include _______ in auto prior update" is disabled, and if a parameter is not "locked", and if "Use" prior width is enabled:

The prior width, if set, is an input to the transit model fit which can constrain the range over which fitting is allowed for that parameter, and is not an output of the transit model fit.

Thank you for your help and for your good software.
I have a question about error bars; our input data are in 3 columns, delta magnitude, Time and magnitude’s error. And I know to provide photometric error bars to transit light curves, I have to tick the icon of Auto Error in Multi-plot Y-data window But it doesn't work. Are there other settings for error bars?
